24-Year-Old Woman Vanished After Arriving in US for Arranged Marriage
By Nikki Thrace. Jul 11, 2025
Simran Simran arrived in America with a suitcase and a promise. Five days later, she was gone without a trace. The 24-year-old Indian woman landed in New Jersey on June 20, reportedly to begin a new chapter in an arranged marriage. But what was expected to be a cultural and personal transition turned into a mystery that now has Lindenwold Police searching for answers and urging the public for help.
From the Airport to Missing
According to authorities in Lindenwold, Simran was last seen on June 25, just five days after her arrival from India. According to PEOPLE, she had traveled to the U.S. for what police called a “prearranged marriage,” though they later added that the marriage may have been a means to an end - possibly “used for free airfare to the United States.”
In surveillance footage, Simran was spotted appearing calm, looking at her phone and waiting. Police emphasized she “did not seem in distress” at the time, PEOPLE reported.
Despite her composed demeanor in the video, authorities said she vanished shortly thereafter, and all attempts to locate or contact her have failed. Complicating matters further, Simran reportedly has no relatives in the United States, does not speak English, and uses an international phone that only works with Wi-Fi.
Who Is Simran Simran?
Simran stands 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs about 150 pounds, and has a small scar on the left side of her forehead. When last seen, she was wearing gray sweatpants, a white T-shirt, black flip flops, and small diamond-studded earrings.
With no known friends or family members in the U.S. and no confirmed contacts back in India, the case is proving difficult to investigate. As of June 26, police said they had been unable to reach any family in India for further leads.
The Marriage That Might Not Have Been
While arranged marriages are still the norm in many parts of India - with over 90% of marriages falling into that category according to a BBC report - police noted that in Simran’s case, the legitimacy of the arrangement is unclear.
Officials were told Simran may have used the arrangement as a pathway to enter the country but possibly had no intention of going through with the marriage. However, this theory remains speculative as no conclusive evidence has emerged to confirm her plans.
A Case Growing Colder
As each day passes, the trail grows colder. Simran’s limited communication capabilities and lack of local contacts significantly hinder search efforts. Police are now relying on the public’s assistance to generate any new leads that could help track her movements or confirm her safety.
Anyone with information about Simran’s whereabouts is urged to contact Detective Joe Tomasetti at 856-784-7566 ext. 421 or jtomasetti@lindenwoldpd.com.
Questions That Remain
Where was Simran going that day? Who was she waiting for? And what were her true intentions upon arriving in the U.S.? These are the questions now haunting investigators - and, potentially, the community that briefly intersected with her life.
This story serves as a stark reminder that behind every international journey is a person with hopes, challenges, and - sometimes - secrets. Whether Simran is a victim, a runaway, or simply lost in a foreign place, one thing is clear: She hasn’t been seen in over a week, and her silence is only growing louder.
