Florida Principal Caught Hosting Drunken House Party for Teens

A Florida elementary school principal is facing serious charges after allegedly hosting a raucous house party where underage students had access to alcohol, drugs, and dangerous situations. The party, which took place on Jan. 19, 2025, at the home of Roosevelt Elementary School Principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, led to arrests, medical emergencies, and a disturbing look into the behavior of two educators.

A House Party Spirals Out of Control

Police in Cocoa Beach, Florida, responded to Hill-Brodigan’s home after reports of a large gathering involving high school students. When officers arrived, they found more than 100 juveniles, many of whom were drinking alcohol from coolers readily available at the party.

The situation quickly escalated when police discovered one intoxicated teenager lying on the front lawn, suffering from an alcohol-related medical event. According to a statement from Cocoa Beach Police, as reported by PEOPLE, “The juvenile was so heavily intoxicated that Brevard County Fire Rescue (BCFR) had to respond to treat them.”

As first responders arrived, 47-year-old Hill-Brodigan was seen turning off her outside lights and retreating inside, forcing paramedics to rely on auxiliary lighting from their vehicle to treat the teen.

Principal and Teacher Now Facing Jail Time

As police investigated, they identified another adult at the party: 45-year-old Karly Anderson, a teacher at Roosevelt Elementary. Officers described her as intoxicated and uncooperative, even interfering with paramedics as they treated the ill teenager.

Both Hill-Brodigan and Anderson were arrested and charged with child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Hill-Brodigan also faces an additional charge for hosting what Florida law refers to as an “open house party,” meaning alcohol was accessible to minors under her supervision, according to NBC News.

Following their arrests, Brevard Public Schools placed both women on administrative leave. According to NBC News, the district said in a statement, “We are extremely troubled by these accusations and are fully cooperating with the Cocoa Beach Police Department. Our commitment to student safety remains our top priority.”

More Than Just a One-Time Event

According to police, this was not the first time Hill-Brodigan allegedly allowed students to party at her home. Investigators found evidence suggesting that these gatherings had been happening once or twice a month, often promoted on Snapchat. Some students even arrived early to help with preparations, officers said.

The Jan. 19, 2025, party reportedly included a teenage boy pointing a handgun at another student recording him, violent fights, and widespread use of alcohol and marijuana. A 17-year-old girl was later arrested for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of 0.118 - nearly six times the limit for minors. Florida has a zero-tolerance policy for underage drinking and driving, so operating a vehicle after having even a single drink can cause a minor to be arrested.

A Stunning Breach of Trust

The details of this case have left many in the community shocked, including Brevard Public Schools Superintendent Mark Rendell. In a letter to parents, he called the allegations “a complete failure in leadership and violation of our trust,” according to NBC News.

Despite pleading not guilty and requesting jury trials, Hill-Brodigan and Anderson now face the fallout of their alleged actions. For parents and students in Cocoa Beach, the incident is a troubling reminder that even those in positions of authority can make reckless and harmful decisions.
