Florida Woman Charged After Robbing Dairy Queen® at Gunpoint for $1.50
By Ashley S.. Apr 9, 2025
A woman in Florida is facing a felony armed robbery charge after allegedly holding up a Dairy Queen® with a gun and making off with only $1.50 in change.
Big Crime, Small Haul
According to Coconut Creek police, 44-year-old Allison Fetting walked into the Dairy Queen located at 5405 Lyons Road in Coconut Creek, Florida, on the afternoon of Feb. 20, 2024. Local 10 reported that she allegedly showed a black handgun to an employee and demanded money from the cash register. But when she couldn’t access the register, she grabbed the restaurant’s tip jar instead, making off with just a buck and a half, as reported by PEOPLE.
No one was injured during the incident, police confirmed.
Charged While Serving Time for Other Crimes
Fetting was arrested the day after the robbery by Palm Beach County deputies - but not for the Dairy Queen incident. She was taken into custody on unrelated robbery and drug charges and has remained behind bars ever since.
More than a year later, while serving time for those unrelated convictions, Fetting was transferred to the Broward County Jail and formally booked on March 21, 2025, to face charges connected to the Dairy Queen case. Court records show she was scheduled to appear for an arraignment hearing before Broward County Judge Marina Garcia-Wood on March 26.
Decades of Trouble With the Law
Fetting’s criminal history stretches back more than two decades. Florida state prison records show she served nearly three years of a four-year sentence following a 2003 arrest in Osceola County. That conviction included charges for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery on a law enforcement officer, and grand theft.
By the time charges were filed in the Dairy Queen case, Fetting was already incarcerated in Palm Beach County for other robbery and drug-related convictions.
Facing the Consequences
Though the amount stolen was only $1.50, the consequences Fetting faces are far more serious. Armed robbery is a felony offense, and using a weapon - even when no one is hurt - can lead to lengthy prison sentences, especially with proper offenses.
