Dead Bodies Found in Storage Unit Run by Former Funeral Director

A former funeral home owner in Mississippi is facing serious charges after authorities found the remains of three people stored inside a rented storage unit. The discovery has shocked the local community and raised troubling questions about how long the activity went unnoticed.

Bodies Found During Burglary Investigation

On March 25, deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department were investigating the iStorage facility in Greenville, Mississippi, regarding concerns about a burglary. While investigating, officers discovered three human bodies inside one of the units. The unit was allegedly being used by 31-year-old Albert Creath, former owner of Creath Memorial Services.

Chief Deputy Billy Barber as reported by Fox News, “Deputies had actually been to that particular storage because they had reported some burglaries, so there’s a chance the burglars could’ve actually ran upon it. But we don’t know.”

Creath was quickly arrested and charged with improper desecration of corpses. Officials say more charges could be added as the investigation continues.

Operating Without a License

Records show that Creath’s business, Creath Memorial Services, lost its legal standing in December 2024 after he failed to re-register it with the state. Despite this, he allegedly continued offering funeral and burial services by storing bodies in a rented storage unit.

As reported by PEOPLE, Chief Deputy Barber described it as “an isolated incident from somebody just not doing what they were initially assigned to do with these corpses,” according to The Delta News.

Disturbing Social Media Activity

Creath also ran a TikTok account for his former funeral business, where he referred to it as “the Hallmark of professional services,” PEOPLE reported. Some of the videos on the account showed deceased individuals in their caskets, with emojis placed over their faces. Several posts were marked “sensitive” by the app, including one that showed the face of a dead body and another that appeared to show the inside of the storage unit. Creath referred to it as his “casket warehouse” and “second home.”

The last video posted to the account was in August 2024, just months before the discovery.

Community in Shock

The news has deeply upset local leaders and residents. Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons issued a strong statement after the remains were found.

“The discovery of human remains in a storage unit in our city is deeply disturbing and raises serious concerns that demand a thorough investigation,” Simmons said, as reported by PEOPLE. “My thoughts and prayers are with the families who may be affected by this tragic situation.”

He added that Greenville is “a community that values dignity, respect, and the rule of law. We will not tolerate any actions that violate those principles.”

What Happens Next

Albert Creath was granted a $600,000 bond. Investigators are still working to identify the remains and determine how long they had been stored at the facility. More charges may be filed as the case unfolds.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
