A Florida woman has been arrested after allegedly throwing a brick engraved with the words “First Date” through her ex-husband’s window. The shocking incident, caught on security footage, has left many wondering how a sentimental keepsake became a key piece of evidence in a criminal investigation.
The woman, identified as 34-year-old Sabrina Coyne, was charged with criminal mischief and throwing a deadly missile into an occupied dwelling after the late-night brick toss at her ex-husband’s home on Jan. 24, 2025 in Bonita Springs, Florida.
A Sentimental Brick Turned Weapon
The engraved brick, which displayed the date June 14, 2020, appeared to reference the couple’s first date. What was once a symbol of their relationship became a weapon in a moment of tension. Although police did not confirm the ex-husband’s identity, the security footage reportedly captured every detail, from Coyne’s alleged approach to the moment the brick shattered the window.
When officers questioned Coyne about why she was at the residence, she claimed she was simply trying to get in touch with her ex-husband, but he wouldn’t let her in. When police asked if she lived at the home, Coyne attempted to convince them that she did - a story the officers did not believe.
Denial Despite Video Evidence
Despite security footage appearing to confirm her actions, Coyne insisted she had nothing to do with the incident, telling police repeatedly, “I did not break the window … officer, I did not break the window,” as reported by the New York Post. She was subsequently charged with criminal mischief and throwing a deadly missile into an occupied dwelling. Authorities have not said whether this was an isolated act or part of an ongoing pattern of harassment.
Coyne was released two days later on Jan. 26, 2025, after posting bond - $5,000 for the weapon-related offense and $2,500 for the criminal mischief charge.
The ex-husband has not issued a public statement, but this incident appears to be motivated by unresolved tension between the former couple.
This investigation is ongoing.
