'Have Fun Dying': Texas Man Accused of Brutally Beating Disabled Victim, Then Threatening Cops

A Texas man is facing a slew of serious charges after allegedly attacking a victim with a traumatic brain injury, reportedly over a rude comment about a woman. The incident, which quickly escalated into shocking violence, has left the local community disturbed - and the accused, 20-year-old Tristian Thomas, sitting behind bars with a long list of allegations hanging over him.

What Happened?

The reported incident took place on May 18 in Bellmead, Texas, a suburb just outside Waco. According to authorities, Thomas encountered a man already suffering from a traumatic brain injury and, allegedly offended by something the man said about a woman, launched a brutal assault.

Thomas is accused of punching the victim, throwing him to the ground, and stomping on him. The assault left the victim with a broken ankle and injuries to his ear and cheek, according to Law and Crime.

Despite his injuries, the victim couldn’t recall the attack due to his pre-existing brain trauma. However, detectives were able to obtain video footage of the assault. The visual evidence was enough to identify Thomas as the assailant, leading to his arrest later that day during a traffic stop.

A Violent Outburst - And More Allegations

Once taken into custody, Thomas reportedly launched into a verbal tirade from the back of the patrol car. Authorities say he threatened law enforcement, telling them, “Have fun dying. I’m gonna make sure your a– gets shot, m-----------,” as reported by Law and Crime.

Investigators also allege that Thomas attempted to manipulate a witness who had seen the attack, potentially complicating the legal process further. The attempt to influence a witness added to the growing list of charges against him, which now include injury to a disabled person, burglary, obstruction of a highway, and making terroristic threats.

The Alleged Motive

In his interview with authorities, Thomas allegedly admitted to the attack and explained that it stemmed from what he perceived as an inappropriate comment made about a woman. This justification, if true, offers context to his rage - but also reinforces the severity of attacking someone particularly vulnerable, according to Law and Crime.
