Man Breaks Into Mar-a-Lago to 'Marry' Trump's Granddaughter

In a story that sounds more like a rejected plotline from a soap opera than a real police report, a Texas man was arrested for allegedly breaking into Mar-a-Lago - because, according to him, he had a divine mission. His goal? According to the Daily Beast, to “spread the gospel” … and propose to Donald Trump’s teenage granddaughter.

The Midnight Breach

Just after midnight on June 3, alarms sounded across Donald Trump’s Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago. Secret Service agents responded immediately, finding 23-year-old Anthony Thomas Reyes of Texas on the grounds. He had allegedly scaled the wall surrounding the heavily guarded club, setting off multiple alarms in the process.

The U.S. Secret Service detained Reyes without incident and handed him over to the Palm Beach Police Department. He was charged with occupied trespassing, a misdemeanor in Florida.

His Unusual Motivation

When questioned, Reyes reportedly told officers that he came to Mar-a-Lago to “spread the gospel” to former President Trump and to marry his granddaughter, Kai Madison Trump, according to the Daily Beast.

The 18-year-old daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump is a social media influencer and competitive golfer. She recently celebrated her birthday with a vlogged trip to New York City and shared a behind-the-scenes Easter visit to the White House on TikTok.

Kai Trump also made her political debut at the 2024 Republican National Convention and currently attends The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach.

A Familiar Face

According to the arrest report, this wasn’t Reyes’ first time on the property. He had been warned for trespassing at Mar-a-Lago on Dec. 31, 2024, when Trump was staying at the estate.

Despite that prior incident, Reyes was able to return just six months later and again breached the property - this time triggering a full law enforcement response.

No One Was Home

While Reyes’ intentions might raise eyebrows, the situation could have been more severe if Trump or his family had been present. At the time of the breach, Trump was in Washington, D.C., according to his public schedule.

The Secret Service confirmed no protectees were at Mar-a-Lago during the incident.

Reyes was booked at the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on a $50,000 bond. As part of his release, a judge ordered him not to contact Donald Trump, Kai Trump, or any other members of the Trump family.

Growing Pattern of Intrusions

Mar-a-Lago has become a hotspot not just for political events but for attempted breaches. Tuesday’s arrest follows a series of intrusions in recent months, many targeting Trump himself. These include an alleged assassination plot at Trump’s golf course last September and an earlier attempt that injured Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania.

One individual reportedly walked from the beach with a plan to graffiti the estate walls. Others have arrived by car, plane, or on foot, hoping to talk to Trump, get an autograph, or deliver messages they believed were divinely inspired.

Legal Outcome Pending

Reyes pleaded not guilty to the trespassing charge and is being represented by a public defender. Due to office policy, no public comment has been made on the pending case.

For now, he remains under strict no-contact orders, and the case continues through the court system.

What began as a bizarre, seemingly romantic notion ended in legal jeopardy and a growing concern over public safety at Mar-a-Lago. For Trump’s security team, it was another reminder that fame and politics often attract unwanted - and sometimes unwell - visitors.
