A shocking discovery in Portage, Indiana, has reopened a cold case that had gone unanswered for years. Police recently confirmed that human remains found in the area belong to a woman who vanished more than four years ago. Now, investigators are searching for answers - and those responsible.

Remains Identified as Missing Indiana Woman

Authorities said on Feb. 5, 2025, that they had recently identified the remains as belonging to Shannon Orton, who disappeared from the Cressmoor Mobile Home Park in Hobart, Indiana, during the summer of 2020. The case had gone cold until new information led police to the discovery in Portage, about seven miles from where she was last seen. No further details were provided about the discovery of the remains.

Investigation Heats Up

While police have not released details about where or how the remains were found, they have confirmed that multiple suspects are being considered as part of the ongoing investigation.
