In the span of a single month during Mardi Gras season, Shia LaBeouf was arrested twice in New Orleans on assault charges stemming from two separate incidents. The arrests, both in the French Quarter area, drew national attention and raised questions about a pattern of behavior that has followed the actor for years.

The first arrest came in early February 2026. The second followed weeks later, before Mardi Gras season had ended. Each involved a physical altercation in or near a bar.

The First Incident

The first arrest stemmed from a confrontation outside a bar in the French Quarter area of New Orleans. According to police, LaBeouf was involved in a physical altercation in which another person was struck. He was taken into custody and charged with simple battery.

He was released, and the case was pending when the second incident occurred.

The Second Incident

The second arrest happened under similar circumstances - a bar, a confrontation, a physical altercation. Jeffrey Damnit, a well-known New Orleans entertainer, spoke to AP about the second incident and identified himself as the person who was struck. Damnit said the encounter was unprovoked.

LaBeouf was again arrested and charged. He faced two open battery cases simultaneously by the time Mardi Gras had concluded.

A Pattern That Predates New Orleans

LaBeouf’s legal history is not new. He has faced prior arrests, domestic violence allegations from a former partner, and public incidents documented over more than a decade. The New Orleans arrests added two more charges to a history that has repeatedly interrupted - and sometimes derailed - his acting career.

His representatives did not issue a public statement following either arrest. No trial dates have been confirmed as of publication.

Where It Stands

Both cases remained open as of late February 2026. Louisiana prosecutors have not publicly indicated whether the cases will be consolidated or tried separately. LaBeouf has not made any public appearance or statement since the second arrest.
