31-Year-Old Gunned Down in Spilled Soda Road Rage

A shocking road rage incident in Bradenton, Florida, has resulted in a 26-year-old man being sentenced to decades in prison. What began as a minor altercation over spilled soda escalated into a deadly confrontation, leaving one man dead and another facing a long road behind bars.

The Incident That Shook a Community

On Oct. 12, 2021, a seemingly ordinary day turned into a nightmare on the streets of west Bradenton. Timothy P. Andricks, 31, and Nicholas Anthony Koontz, 26, were involved in a heated road rage altercation. According to prosecutors, Andricks cut off Koontz’s car and retaliated by throwing a cup of soda at him, striking him in the temple. The situation quickly spiraled out of control.

After the drink was thrown, Andricks allegedly yelled and made threatening comments toward Koontz. Fueled by anger, Koontz turned his car around and pursued Andricks through a residential area. They highlighted doorbell camera footage that showed Andricks unarmed as he exited his car and walked toward Koontz’s vehicle. Koontz’s decision to follow Andricks - rather than report the incident to authorities - became a focal point of the prosecution’s case. “The defendant created this situation. He escalated this situation. He made it worse and then complained when it went foul,” Assistant State Attorney Suzanne O'Donnell said during the trial, as reported by the Bradenton Herald.
