Wife Allegedly Pours Boiling Oil and Chili Powder on Husband

In the early hours of October 2, 2025, a harrowing incident unfolded in New Delhi’s Madangir neighborhood. Dinesh Kumar, 28, a pharmaceutical company worker, was asleep beside his wife, Sadhna, and their four-year-old daughter when he was suddenly awakened by intense pain. His wife allegedly poured boiling oil over his face and torso, then sprinkled red chili powder on the fresh burns, warning him not to scream or she would pour more.

Kumar told police that after returning home from work and having dinner, he went to bed unaware of the violence about to occur. Around 3:15 a.m., he felt a sharp, burning sensation and saw Sadhna standing over him with a container of hot oil. Before Kumar could react or call for help, Sadhna allegedly threatened him saying, “If you shout, I will pour more oil on you,” as reported by Hindustan Times. Kumar was first admitted to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital but was soon transferred to Safdarjung Hospital, one of Delhi’s major medical centers, due to the severity of his injuries. Medical reports describe his burns as “dangerous,” and he remains in intensive care, as reported by PEOPLE.

According to PEOPLE, police registered a case at Ambedkar Nagar police station based on Kumar’s statement and medical evidence, but no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.

Two years ago, Sadhna filed a complaint against Kumar at the Crime Against Women Cell, which was resolved through a compromise, according to Hindustan Times.
